Tell us a little bit about yourself (work, family, etc.)
I recently graduated from school with a BS in Geography and I love not being in school anymore! I have been married for seven years, two kids (1 and 6 years old), I live a little less than a mile from the gym.
What were you doing for fitness before you joined?
I have been doing CrossFit on and off since about 2012. Before CrossFit I was not active at all.
What was your absolute biggest challenge prior to joining?
Never being active. Going from zero activity to CrossFit was extremely scary because there are so many different movements that are in CrossFit. I probably only knew what body weight movements were at the time.
How did that challenge make you feel?
Great, because there are so many different movements that are in CrossFit. I feel that for a better part of a year I had know idea what I doing.
What changed after joining?
After that first year went by I started to actually understand the workouts and didn’t have to ask what every single movement was. By that point I was friends with everyone and started to love working out. I also started caring about the way I live my life, in more of a long term sense.
What specific results can you share (Improvements/accomplishments in the gym and life)?
I remember the first or second week into CrossFit, the workout was a CrossFit total (find a one rep of: push press, dead lift, and back squat) my one rep back squat was 126 pounds. I am currently squatting 315.
What would you say to somebody on the fence about joining?
DO IT! mainly because I love working out but mostly my friends are at the gym. Its more than a gym, its a community.
