Member of the Month – Rob Truax

Mega props to our latest Member of the Month Rob Truax! He has been getting after it at 5 Valleys for about a year and a half now. Super consistent with his workouts he rarely misses a workout and is continually working to improve and have some fun. Recently he added some focus to his nutrition and was a top finisher in our Fit Challenge. Rob droped almost 12lbs and lost 3.75 inches during that 6 week Challenge!

Awesome work Rob!! It is fantastic having you at the gym. (Find out more about Rob below)

Big thanks to Rattlesnake Market and Cafe for sponsoring our member of the month!

Tell us a little bit about yourself (background, work, fun, etc.)

I’m a Graphic Artist by trade, and I love to cook, hike, and lift heavy things!

What were you doing for fitness before you joined?

Before 5 Valleys I had attempted to follow my own routine at a different gym.

Then, eventually that fell away and I just went for walks at work and the occasional hike on the weekends.

What was your absolute biggest challenge prior to joining?

Just overall health. I could do a few things ok, but I got fatigued quick, or just didn’t feel strong, or capable

and then I got self-conscious because I didn’t want to admit I couldn’t do things.

How did that challenge make you feel?

Bro I was straight up, not having a good time. I was depressed and frustrated, and it took a toll on everything.

What changed after joining?

My mindset changed first. It felt good to get moving and to start taking steps in the right direction. It was a boost in

attitude and outlook for sure.

What specific results can you share (Improvements/accomplishments in the gym and life)?

I can finally keep up with my girlfriend on hikes, and I don’t feel like I’m slowing her down.

I can do a pull-up (though it isn’t super pretty) again.

I can heal, and move, and do most anything I want to, and it keeps getting better.

What would you say to somebody on the fence about joining?

It is what you make of it. If you want to get competitive you can, if you want to just get fitter you can. There is a support

system for any level of fitness and you can do it. The time is going to pass anyway, so why not give it a try?

Anything else to add?

Never measure your success with someone else’s ruler. You do you, and just get a little better every day.
